10/10Outstanding, attentive and knowledgeable host with food to die for – I stayed for 4 nights and the 3-course dinners each evening with consistently outstanding – different menu choices every day; each expertly cooked from scratch whilst outstanding sauces made from their own garden fruits complimented each dish. Huge bedrooms. Exceptionally well maintained and equipped. Style personified and expertly executed. Great to see a family business executed so well. Great location that makes it easy to go north, south, east or west – close to great walks, lovely villages and city attractions. Makes no difference whether you travel alone, in a couple or as a group here. Everyone made so welcome. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will visit again.

This place is the perfect escape from the strains and stresses of everyday life, yet an easy journey from the motorway thus having great connectivity to Bristol, Bath and the surrounding areas.
Covid precautions were thorough yet unobtrusive and well explained, which made us feel comfortable from the start.
Accommodation is spotlessly clean, food is outstanding and the hospitality offered was warm, friendly and informed.
In summary we slept well, ate well and feel well as a result of our stay.

✰ ✰ ✰ ✰ ✰We chose Old Church Farm for its proximity to Bristol, its 5 star food rating and its approach to CV19 safety. We were not disappointed and discovered it offers so much more!
Old Church Farm is a beautiful Tudor building, with many original features, which has been transformed into a luxurious B&B. On arrival our host Christopher explained their Covid precautions and after sanitising and signing in we were shown to our room.
We stayed in room 6, which is their smallest room, but was spacious and bright, with a large window, a huge fireplace, a big comfy bed and lots of antique furniture. The en-suite had a very large shower enclosure with a great shower – no antique plumbing issues here! The room had an Alexa so we could choose music and turn off the lights just by asking – very Covid friendly. The only thing we missed was tea and coffee making facilities in the room, which had been removed as a Covid precaution.
The food cooked by Kate was fabulous. The evening three course menu offered a variety of choice, every dish sounding mouth-wateringly good. I couldn’t resist the cheese souffle on our first night, it was the best I’ve every had. So good, I had it again the second night. The food was cooked to perfection and accompanied by home grown veg. The dining room had a long table which enabled us to enjoy the company of the other guests whilst maintaining a safe social distance. Christopher introduced everyone at dinner and the conversation flowed.
The breakfast menu was extensive, and again delicious, Kate really is a superb cook, and was beautifully served in the breakfast room on stunning china.

✰ ✰ ✰ ✰ ✰Dear Chris and Kate,
My apologies for this tardy review and yes Mallorca was fantastic!
But paled in comparison to your fine cooking and hospitality! Old Church Farm is a treasure and you both, fitting custodians to this stately manor.
Gary and I both look forward to our next opportunity to visit. Mini Cooper’s 60th Birthday Bash in Bristol was a fun experience, but staying with you both was the highlight by far!
We’d love to share all of the tidbits of our stay with your readers, but wouldn’t want to give anyone the idea of how far you’ll stretch to make your guests feel welcome- hah- you went above and beyond the call of duty and we are greatly thankful for your care and hospitality ( hauling & shipping home car parts and auto signs etc- thank you again!)
For those of you fortunate enough to have the opportunity to visit this fine establishment, we would recommend you rent a car and book your meals- every meal here- Sunday’s you’ll need to find other arrangements (the carvery across the field is walking distance but not high on the culinary scale) as this is family day.
Please say hello to your kiddos and a great big hug for you both,
Merry Christmas and God’s Blessings,

✰ ✰ ✰ ✰ ✰When our 1939 Rolls Royce began to sputter outside Bristol, little did we know she would lead us to a former RR meeting centre. Maybe there was a method in her madness and she wanted a respite in familiar surroundings? Whatever the kismet that found us arriving as stressed and weary travellers at this charming home, our tensions immediately diffused. Chris welcomed us warmly and escorted us to a lovely room overlooking a manicured lawn flanked by distant hills while the vegetable garden hinted of delights to come at a scrumptious dinner. The roll top bath immediately soothed and all felt decidedly more optimistic.
Dinner service was prompt and gracious, company delightful and we found ourselves grateful this unscheduled interlude had interrupted our planned progress straight back to London.
Now we plan to return to savour the charms at any season of this perfectly charming inn where chef Kate delights at dinner and breakfast with refined flavours. Don’t wait for your car to break down as an excuse to visit! - A wonderful wedding celebration at Old Church Farm

(more…)Old Church Farm is a beautiful old country house hotel – originally owned by the Rolls Royce Group and used for company functions/entertaining – now in private ownership and brought up-to-date with all mod cons. It is set in beautiful grounds with a croquet lawn, rose garden and its own abandoned old church tower! It has 7 lovely bedrooms all with wonderfully comfortable Hynos beds and bathrooms/shower rooms with amazing water pressure and tons of hot water – bliss.
Christopher, the owner, is a very welcoming host and nothing was too much trouble. (He even went beyond the call of duty to sort through the rubbish bins after our stay to retrieve something important I had managed to throw out and leave behind by mistake). His wife, Kate, is the chef (cordon bleu trained and previously ran her own restaurant on the South Coast) and produced absolutely delicious, generous breakfasts every day with high quality ingredients (eg. really good local sausages and bacon, freshly-squeezed orange juice etc), good vegetarian options, eggs, omelettes etc. - A real gem of a find! 10/10This is a find! Not long open it was an entertainment hideaway for Rolls Royce Aero engines… money clearly was not an issue in the past and it shows. Recently taken over by a couple who seem to have a firm view on providing a great experience. The property is really nice, old and comfortable, proper British country house stuff. Furniture, paintings and furnishings build an ambiance of comfort and very gentle opulence. The closest comparison I would have is Gidleigh Park (although Church Farm does not have the 2 Michelin stars yet!). Service is personal and nothing seems to much effort. Christopher, the patron, is attentive and proud of his property, rightly so. Food is great, British with a hint of French would be my view, limited menu and really tasty and well cooked. Large grounds provides a nice backdrop for strolling. Local area has Cotswolds and Bristol close by.

Stayed on 18th November 2017As bed and breakfast accommodation goes this must be up there with the best.
I understand the property was formally used by Rolls Royce as a Conference centre and to entertain business dignitaries etc. So it is no surprise that the house and its furnishing exude style and class from an era gone by. With a wealth of history to it’s name, this is just the sort of place we enjoy staying at.
The property I guess takes it’s name from the ruined Church, standing just 12 ft away from the house, where only the tower and part of the knave wall remains as a reminder to it’s past.
Our host, the owner made us most welcome and told us the history of the place.
The breakfast was excellent and I would not hesitate re-booking when we are next in the Bristol area.
All in all a fabulous place to stay.See Peter’s photos by looking at the Google link above

A delightful place to stay – warm and welcoming with fantastic period features. Guest areas (drawing room, wood panelled library, breakfast room) have the right balance between characterful and cosy. Our room (7) was spacious, comfortable, and contained beautiful furniture that made it seem like a really relaxing, homely space. The bathroom is large with a great roll top bath and good sized shower. Breakfast includes a cooked option made to order (can recommend Eggs Royale).
